We take mealtimes very seriously at Kingsmead. The experience of sitting down and eating a meal together creates an environment where the children have shown to be prepared to try new foods, and the activities during the day help to improve their appetite. Our parents often ask for our cook's recipes as the children eat so well at nursery.

The children’s meals at the nursery are nutritious, varied and freshly-cooked each day on the premises and comply with each child’s dietary and religious requirements. We use fresh ingredients in our meals and provide freshly delivered milk.

The children are provided with snacks, lunch and high tea. A snack-box is available all day which includes breadsticks, rice cakes and fresh fruit, for example peaches, nectarines, satsumas, pineapple, bananas and apples.

Example of a typical menu:

Lunch: Chilli con carne, rice, broccoli and sweetcorn. Homemade carrot cake.
Afternoon Tea: Wraps, cheese, cold meat and salad. Seasonal fresh fruit.

Lunch: Vegetable curry with rice and naan bread. Fromage frais.
Afternoon Tea: Cheesy hidden vegetable tomato pasta.  Seasonal fresh fruit.

Lunch: Fisherman’s pie with swede and peas. Homemade rice pudding.
Afternoon Tea: Sandwiches with assorted fillings. Seasonal fresh fruit.

Lunch: Turkey meatballs in tomato sauce, spaghetti, sweetcorn, and cauliflower. Natural fruit yoghurt ice lollies.
Afternoon Tea: Cheese on toast. Seasonal fresh fruit.

Lunch: Roast chicken with roast potatoes, carrots and peas. Summer fruit pudding and ice cream.
Afternoon Tea: Vegetable soup with wraps.  Seasonal fresh fruit.

The children love to create their own gourmet offerings.
Luckily our cook Debs is there to serve something more edible at mealtimes.
